A classroom programme which teaches kids about empathy is struggling to find funding.
Roots of Empathy teaches year five and six children about brain development and their feelings by observing a baby who visits once a month.
It received support from the Ministry of Social Development for 5 years but funding was cut in 2014.
That’s forced schools to either pay the $1200 annual fee themselves or stop participating in the programme.
Programme Manager Ally Fulcher says the founder of Roots of Empathy is coming to New Zealand later this year to help secure funding.
