THORNDON SCHOOL teachers have no need to worry if their PCs are acting up – Geeks On Feet, four senior students with a knack for fixing computers, can come to the rescue.
Geeks On Feet, formed this year, are Ryan O’Fallen (13), Thomas Self (11) and Liam Anthony (13).
Picked for their aptitude and interest in computers, the boys can be called on at any time during the school day to help teachers or students with computer-related woes.
These can be as complex as network issues and internet connections or as simple as a blog post. Either way, the boys are confident in their abilities, agreeing that they can fix the problems they face “eight or nine” times out of ten.
“I’ve had two calls out today,” Liam told NewsWire last week. “The first one, they forgot to turn on the computers at the wall. It took me about five seconds.”
Principal Bill Sutton is pleased with the service Geeks On Feet are providing.
“They’ve been useful and [it's] something I’d like to expand,” he says.
“It’s a worthwhile exercise. They’re certainly helping.”
